Water World Colorado opens Summit Canyon, its biggest expansion since the 1980s

The publicly owned Denver-area park opened Summit Canyon on 16 July 2026: a ProSlide drop-capsule slide with a 425-foot run and the 520-foot Columbine Cascade.

Water World, the 70-acre park owned by the Hyland Hills Park & Recreation District north of Denver, has opened Summit Canyon, its largest renovation since the 1980s.

The new area is built around two ProSlide rides. Aspen Falls is a drop-capsule slide: riders stand in a chamber, the floor releases, and the 425-plus-foot run follows. Columbine Cascade is a 520-foot family slide beside it.

Water World opened in 1979, making it one of the oldest operating water parks in the United States and one of very few owned by a public body rather than a resort or theme-park group. It has welcomed more than 18 million guests.
